As a creative hub, Kantata explores alternatives for creation and distribution, allowing artists to make a living from their art through digital means.
How it started
When the pandemic COVID 19 hit the world, African artists couldn't perform anymore and make a living from their arts.
In Togo, the situation reached a critical point where many Togolese artists did not get enough revenue to support their daily life.
Remote In-Depth interviews with artists
To get a better understanding of the issues faced, I conducted 6 interviews with artists from comedians, storytellers to singers or dancers to highlight their pain points and discover their real needs.
Brainstorming with "How might we ?"
Thanks to the learning from interviews, my teammates and i started some ideation session by using "How might we" questions.
How might we help artists perform during a pandemic ?
How might we help people access cultural events ?
How might we help artists expand to other markets ?
How might we generate new revenue streams for artists ?
Concepts Generation
Insight gathered from the interviews allowed us to come up with multiple ideas like :
- Creating a VOD platform showcasing Artists and their works
- Organising live events with online payments
- Help Artists learn digital tools to promote their works
The Kantata Hub
Exploring the mission of bringing awareness and empowering artists in using digital tools, we end up creating the Kantata Hub
which help artist strengthen their digital skills and explore new creatives techniques and distribution channels using technology.
Wireframe, Design, Code, and iterate...
Once the hub was created, I prototype and implemented the platform to collect and showcase the different creations using prototyping tools and implemented the website
